Symmetry Counselling is the private counselling practice of Sarah McCartney BA (Hons) Counselling, Registered Member MBACP (Snr Accred), BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist, based in Glenholt, Plymouth.
I am a highly experienced British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Accredited CBT Therapist. I am also a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Senior Accredited Counsellor and an Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Trained Therapist.
I have been working as a therapist since 2000.
I work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or Person Centred Counselling depending on the needs of the individual.
I chose the name "Symmetry" as it is from the Greek word symmetria, which means 'together'. This reflects the process of therapist and client working together to deal with the client's issues and to find more fulfillment for the client.
A modern definition of symmetry is: "Beauty as a result of balance or harmonious arrangement." I believe that therapy offers the potential for a person to achieve a more harmonious and balanced way of living.
